What is a daily stretch routine that will increase leg flexibility?

I currently have a terrible (single digit) sit-and-reach stretch. In 6-8 months I have to take a fitness test and the sit-and-reach is 1/4th of the test and I must pass it. I’m in excellent physical condition other than the total lack of flexibility. I need a 15 in. stretch or so. What are some daily stretching routines that would help to increase my sit-and-reach?

I use the routine.below as well as doing the sit and reach streth (practicing the exact skill is the best way to improve) and also getting as close to the splits as I can, both with legs in front of and behind me and to the sides.

How do I get the best out of my limited training time?

As a single mum I rely on babysitters and relatives for me to go training, I desperately want to lose 12lb. I have about 80 minutes in the gym (3-4 times a week) which I spend on Cardiovascular work. eg. running 30-40 mins, 10-15 cross trainer, 10-20 bike and up to 10 on the rower. I spend about 10 mins stretching and doing ab work. I am not losing any weight or it appears fat. In fact I have gained weight. Would I be better off cutting back on cv work and doing some weight stations? I don’t do any at the moment as I try and do as much cv in my limited time as possible. I eat a healthy, low carb diet (although I do maybe have a little too much wine and chocolate)and desire a lean, toned body and a good level of fitness and stamina.

Personally I would say you are doing way to much Cardiovascular work, I would suggest doing circuits which are very time efficient (If you Google circuits you will get loads of examples) and will tone as well as giving you a CV workout which would take about 30-45 Min’s then do 20 Min’s CV if you wish then stretch for 5 Min’s.

Do this 3 times a week and cut down the wine (my vice) and chocolate.

I am a single person with no kids. How much would a gym membership cost for someone like me? I would need a gym with a lap pool. Does that cost more? Also, I am looking at L.A. fitness. Does anyone know of their rates? Thanks!

Usually a gym costs around $1 a day, or a little less. I pay $20 monthly for my Golds Gym membership, but I paid an up front fee that was slightly higher to get that rate.

It has a track, pool, saunas, hot tub.

What qualities do women look for in prospective partners?

I understand that even until quite recently, women looking for a partner would consider strength, fitness and health as important factors. This, I suppose was to increase the likelihood of having healthy childern. With advances in medicine and general social conditions, traits such as sense of humour and intelligence were becoming more important. However, I read an opinion poll in the paper the other day that the most important single factor that women looked for was how much money the man earns. Some saying that they looked for a partner who earns £50k others putting the acceptable salary as £100k. While I’m alright (yes I’m one of those deplorable, fat-cat City bankers that everyone hates), what has the world come to? Do you agree that so much emphasis should be placed on money and will marrying someone for this reason really mean that you’ll be happy?

The thing I look for most in a man is how attentive they are. Men should listen and be interested when we talk because there’s nothing more insulting than being ignored. It is nice to be surprised as well – by doing something different or doing nice thoughtful things (such as a nice little note in your underwear draw or something).

Money isn’t everything. I have known men who i initially didn’t fancy but then did after getting to know them – so personality does count i think. Some women feel the need for possessions more than men so look for men with money – maybe they are insecure – they will never be truly happy as possessions can’t offer companionship

How much do people get paid in unskilled occupations in the USA?

I live in Australia which is run under the Australian Labor Party which is democratic socialist.

Im 17 and Im a high school student and I work part-time after school at a fitness marketing company, doing telemarketing and stuff. I make on average AU$40 an hour, which is like US$37 an hour. But I only do it like 12 hours a week because Im studying and wasting time on Yahoo Answers.

And my friend from school works as a sales assistant at a hardware warehouse, and he makes $15 an hour on weekdays and $19 an hour on weekends. His job seems far more enjoyable than mine though.

Since the USA is so far-right wing and conservative, how much do people like students and people starting out get paid?
@You don’t make that per hour. Telemarketers are paid commission, not hourly wages. If you don’t sell, you don’t make money.

The statement about being right wing conservative is a misconception that many have today. We have always been more centrist until recent years, now more socialist. You would probably start at minimum wage and depending on the job may get offered more if the quality of you work and the job allows it. I see one here said $8.00 per hour in their area. We are such a diverse nation that the rate can be up to $15.00 down to minimum wage which is $7.25 per hour for non exempt employees. It is hard to be specific because areas are so different in their economic diversity, needs and ability to pay.
Y/A return is not measured in dollars and cents. There can be believe it or not an education in itself, just don’t take us too seriously, especially in politics, we are not quite right you know.
There is much to be said for doing what you enjoy over big money, but consider that aspect carefully when making a life decision

Is it ok to bring vitamins/nutrition supplements when travelling from Canada to the USA?

I will be travelling in a few days by plane to the USA from Canada, I’m staying for 2 weeks, I was wondering about this question.

I’m into working out fitness and such and take a few supplements, vitamins, creatine, whey protein, that’s basically it. But I’m always worried because you always hear about how in the USA they are so very, very, worried about anything that has anything to do with drugs and if you have some sort of pills with you they’ll confiscate them and interrogate you for 8 hours etc. etc. Is this just a stereotype kind of view? Or will I get in trouble for bringing such things with me?

I thought I’d just take what I need for a couple weeks in a bag in my checked luggage,. It’s all just general stuff you could buy at a store, but is this allowed to transport such things or will I get into trouble or have it confiscated? Thank you,

Hi, as long as your vitamins and supplements are clearly marked (are small sizes) and in your checked luggage, you shouldn’t have a problem. I would definately not carry them on the plane. The customs people take any and all items they deem hazardous, and yes if they think you are bringing in drugs they will interrogate you (among other things if they feel its warranted) So don’t take it lightly. Another option for you may be to buy what you need in the US (probably cheaper) since your going to be away for 2 wks. Further to that you can call your airline directly and ask what they advise. I think health care in this country is mediocre here in the USA, do you agree?

I saw a woman on CNN saying that we have the best Health Care in the World and people from Canada come here for treatment. I almost vomit when I her this woman and thousands of others saying this.
1-In the States over 40 million people have no health insurance, many of us like myself lost my health insurance when i was laid off.
2-Health care is only good for those who have jobs or have money.
3-I know for a fact that many of you don,t care much about those of us without health insurance.
4-A Portuguese woman told me at my job that people here are very selfish, my family members born here are extremely selfish, only me and me, screw the rest.
5-I will not talk about my nationality again, too many racist people and haters in this site, go to church to release that anger please.
6-Many of you claim that the USA is the best country in the world, that’s nonsense, rich Europeans countries are better to live according to surveys by the United Nations, example, the violence that I see here, doesn,t happen in Spain for example(lived in spain, not from spain), remember the PA guy that just killed 3 people in an LA Fitness gym? I think the States has the most people jailed among industrial countries.

Millions without health insurance and many say is a good system, plain stupidity this is.

I signed what I thought was a 3 month contract and when I tried to cancel it after 3 months, they wont let me saying it was 12mnths! At that time 5 of us joined and they have all been able to canel by writing a letter. We all thoughth we had sign the same deal! now they want 300 pounds from me!

Just dont pay. They will threaten to take action against you but if that happens just threaten to report them to the consumer council or the office of fair trading. I had a similar story and when I threatened to report them they backed off very quickly. If you still have a copy of your contract then you should be ok even if they dont back down. If they bring you to court and you win, you can claim some compensation of them. Good luck

I was reading the requirements for the first pre employment fitness test for the border patrol and 20 ”proper” push ups are required in one minute. The intructions gives examples of incorrect push ups, but does not list modified push ups as incorrect. i was wondering if modified push ups were allowed for women.

A truly good leader needs to be Honest. Honesty is one of the vital parts of being a leader- it symbolizes trust, and overall- Respect.
A leader always needs to be competent. For one to be competent, you need the necessary ability, and attitude, to accomplish a task strongly and successfully.
Leaders need to be inspiring to their followers, or peers. In other words, they must form a bond, or set an example.
When being a leader, one also must be intelligent. To be intelligent, you need to be able to make good decisions, and carry them out faithfully, and carefully.
The last but certainly not least characteristic is to be forward-looking. To have this, a person needs to be able to plan ahead of time, and always be aware of all possibilities. Presenters, business people, and representatives show these characteristics.
One type person that truly sticks out of this group is The United States Marine Officer. They are all of these things and more. They obtain the highest degree of honor, courage, and commitment, and physical fitness.

And when I was adopted from that town, I was brought to the Promise Land for numerous immigrants, The United States Of America. I am one of the very few people who truly realize what it truly means to be free. I have continuously believed that I am in great debt to my country. I was once told of a gentleman on the plane that I began my long journey home on. That gentleman told my mother “he doesn’t realize it– but he has just won the lottery”. Another important reason for applying for this position is to bring honor to me, my family, and my country. My Great Uncle, Jim Giess, was an Enlisted United States Marine. To this very day he takes very much pride in his service in Korea, and I wish to feel that life-long pride, and feeling of accomplishment. My grandfather served in the United States Army in World War II, and my grandmother is so proud to say her husband survived an enormous catastrophe- he was stationed in Hawaii and Germany during the war.
Alongside all of this- I believe that obtaining the position of a United States Marine Officer will make me a better, more well-balanced person- inside and out. I feel I am capable of accomplishing more great tasks in the future, near and far, just as the two gentlemen mentioned above surely did, by taking this contenting and meaningful, life-long path. me and this girl have a great connection. and i do like her and she likes me. but the problem is that i am into health and fitness while she is into drinking and smoking pot. my take on this was not to get to serious with her due to the fact we are different in that area. thats basiclly where the problem is. other then that its great. any thoughts would be helpful on this matter on how i should handle this?

While you may overlook the differences initially, if the relationship becomes long term, her habits will begin to annoy you and they will become a major issue in your relationship. Enjoy the relationship for awhile but unless one of you changes, then the relationship will probably not last.

And the last thing is, i was in my class, and he went to walk the kids with the problems, and he walked right by my class, and just looked right at me!!!! and kinda got red, and smiled.
Then i fixed up my hair, and he came back again, he turned toward the door, and stood there for liek 4 seconds, and i smiled back.

And today, i was going to the caf, and he was walking right infront of me and i was in his way, and he just looked at me and he was like “excuse me” and he has such a sexy voice.

I saw him in the halls like 6 times today. And i always got so reddd. He looked at me too :)

So what is this!! I know it might be illegal, but i feel a connection! Someone help!

my ex & i dated for a year. we were both afraid of getting hurt & that ruined our relationship. we were like best friends,had an amazing connection, intense attraction, and…we had something unique. she had her problems facing her sexuality and dealing with a strict asian family who she couldnt come out to and i had mine cuz my dad had just had been diagnosed with cancer. my mom passed when i was a small child, i was an only child and my dad had only remarried when i was 19. we were really close and i was taking care of him while my stepmom worked. i had very inconsistent behavior towards the end dealing with being strong for my father and falling apart when i was away from him.i drew back from her & she drew away from me.we never officially broke up which was odd but that’s a long story.
i found out a couple months later from her bro that she began dating an asian guy who was 9 years older (she: 20: he :29) bcuz her parents approve. her bro said she was not in love with him & they behaved like friends…
In Fall of 2008: i switched grad programs last summer 2 b closer 2 my dad since this college was down the street from his house. I thought I saw her on campus 1 day but wasn’t sure. My dad passed away that November. I was devastated. Ive matured, grown, & learned how precious life is after experiencing caring for him while he was on hospice in October 2 the end of November. Shortly after, I text my ex & we chatted. When I told her my dad passed; she didn’t answer back. It hurt me. Ppl have told me she might be shocked & not know what 2 say. I didn’t get to ask if she went 2 my college. Months later, I saw her n the campus paper & it listed her major as fitness & kiniesiology….i worked for years as a personal trainer in undergrad and was passionate about fitness, I introduced her 2 it as an interest beyond going 2 the gym. She went thru so much school already studying getting a degree & certified in somthng else I was confused 2 find this out. Her parents would never approve. I ran into her at the school gym about a week later and quickly left without talking to her. I felt all these old feelings flooding in and I was scared and hurt that she didn’t respond when I said my dad passed. A mutual friend told me she broke up with her bf in mid December..which was 1 week after we texted. A person who works at my indoor rock climbing gym told me that she has seen my ex a lot in there with her brother since December..i was the one who took my ex for the first time. It has been my passion for many years & we even introduced her bro to it. The same mutual friend said she found it odd that my ex has been listening to a lot of the music I like, seeing as how she never liked it before. She started doing all of this stuff since she started at my college apparently. Is it a coincidence or what am I to make of this? Im confused…this has been a strange unfolding of events
My friends say I should email her and just tell her what was in my heart all along that I never did when we broke up. That I should explain to her what I was going thru. I never told her how much I loved her & how beautiful she was 2 my life. And ask her to meet and talk about things…they think we left our relationship unresolved and if we don’t end up get back together like they think we will, we will at least resolve things. what do you make of her recent behavior?

I think that she might have just found new interests that you exposed her to. The idea of emailing her and keeping it very short would be a good one. I would not say what is in your heart all along in an email, but just say you would like to meet because you want to maintain a friendship with her to find out how she is doing, if she plans to date other guys to please her parents. Then, if you get to talk to her again and she seems pleased to be back in touch, then you might say how much you missed her and loved her after you split, and how your father passing was so important that you could not maintain a relationship with her then, you were so emotionally drained. Then ask, can you keep in touch and do things together again? A declaration of love would not be my suggestion, that could scare her off.

Am i anorexic or on my way to being anorexic?

My best friends have been telling me tht im on the verge of being anorexic, i have a poor body image and i percieve myself as fat which i am 5″4 and weigh about 150 lbs (in the past 5 months ive lost 50 lbs). I ear between 600 and 900 calories a day and i workout about an hr and a half doing cardio and weight lighting! Also twice a week i am a dance coach for two hours. I eat healthy foods and i freak out if i eat 2 much in a day. I count my calories and i have a fitness pal on my fone to count my calories and what i have burned for that day. Am i anorexic or are my friends being a little judgmental?

How do i get this weight off? Very discouraged!!!?

I gained weight and now im trying to get it off. I used to be very fit, worked out at least 5 days a week and i loved the way i looked and felt. I worked 2 jobs and was taking 2 classes at college and needless to say had no time to work out or even cook a meal. So here I am. I started a biggest loser with 12 of my friends. We weigh in every 2 weeks. At the end of 12 weeks who ever lost more wins $500. I don’t even care about the money I joined to give me some motivation to get back to working out and being me again. So I have been working out 4-6 days a week. I do step aerobics and turbo jam. In total 5 different work outs and i switch it up so i won’t get bored. The problem is I lost 2 lbs my first weigh in and I just did another weigh in today and I gained it back. Now i know that i am gaining muscle and that weighs more then fat but i thought after a month i would have lost something. Some of my clothes do fit better and my shoulders and arms are getting very fit but Im very discouraged. I did download My Fitness Pal ap on my phone to count my calories but im not going to lie it drives me nuts. I made home made veggie soup and its all kinds of veggies, onion soup mix and water and you let it cook all day. I am not going to sit there and scan every bar code and then try to divide that into a serving. But im not doing something right because its not doing anything for me. Im not a bad eater in the first place. I used to not eat breakfast and now i force myself to and its usually oatmeal or a good cereal with a half cut banana. I drink smoothies for snacks and i use fat free milk and yogurt and fruit. I don’t know what to do. Its very disheartening when i go for a weigh in and every one else has lost 10 lbs or 5 lbs one even lost 15 lbs and here i sit and gained 2. And ideas!! I know i can do this, just need a little help!

Try Fitday.com It tracks not only nutrition and calories but also has a good exercise calorie counter to give you a better idea of the total calories in and out for your day.

Also, make sure you are eating super healthy. Cut out sweet, fried, processed, junk, and fast foods. Eat lots of different fresh fruits and veggies with each meal and as snacks instead of chips, cookies, crackers, bars, etc. Even supposedly healthy varieties and 100 calorie packs aren’t as good for you, especially when losing weight. An easy way to limit calories and still get a balanced diet is divide your plate into quarters. First fill half the plate with veggies. The other quarters are for lean protein and healthy carb. Drink just plain water and plenty of it.

For exercise, aim for 45-60 minutes of cardio 3-5 times/week. Do the longer Turbo Jam routines, not the shorter ones unless you are short on time. Or get Turbo Fire. Its most intense and comes with one of the best nutrition guides I’ve seen.

Confused about calories?

I know ive posted this question before, but i got no answers :P so..

So im on a 1200 calorie a day diet, and i have an app on my phone to help count. I reached 1211 calories today, then i went for a walk/run and burned around 231 calories. The app on my phone now says i have 220 calories “left” (it tells me how many calories i have left to be able to eat a day. eg. after breakfast i have 1015 calories left to eat in the day). So im just wondering, am i supposed to eat the remaining 220 calories to work back up to 1200? Because i know you kinda need a minimum of 1200 a day to keep your metabolism up. Or is that extra 220 meant to be there to help lose weight?
Any advice is appreciated :)

Well obviously, you had eaten 1211, then burned 231, meaning that your totally calorie intake for the day had been reduced to 1880. This means that to get back to your goal/limit of 1200, you would need to consume another 220.

Its really up to you weather you eat the 220 calories or not. Since you have consumed 1200, its totally fine if you don’t, you metabolism wont slow down.
However, it is also totally fine to eat those 220 calories, and you will still lose weight, as you will have only really had 1200.

That’s the great thing about exercise! :)

Keep in mind it is usally good to have something small to eat after exercise, it helps your muscles :)

Approximately how many calories are in this meal?

I’ve recently been using My Fitness Pal to lose weight, which has been fine with general meals, but tonight I’m having my step Mum’s pumpkin and sweet potato soup and I have no idea how to count the calories in that! The ingredients I know of are roast pumpkin and sweet potato, with some garlic and onion, coconut milk, a bit of oil and some spices… can anybody give me a rough estimate of the calories I would be consuming per bowl? Thanks in advance!
There’s also chicken stock and curry paste instead of spices :) just found those out.

One sweet potato is about 100 calories. Spices have little to no calories as well as the garlic and onions. Coconut milk tends to be higher in calories. Overall I would guess that one bowl would be no more than 300 calories since there isn’t butter and cream.

I use livestrong to track calories and they also have a recipes section and you can enter your ingredients and how much you use and it will tell you how many calories one serving of your recipe is.

why have i gained weight like this? long but 10pts.?

The past week i’ve started to watch what i eat and have been exercising to trim down for going abroad in the summer. i thought it would be best to do it properly rather than completely starving myself, so i’ve allowed a lot of time. Basically i’ve been using the website My Fitness Pal to track what i’m eating and log the calories and exercise i do and my daily goal is 1200 calories a day. If i exceed that it’s not by much more than 50 calories, and i make sure i burn those extra calories in exercise and then burn extra calories off (at least 200).
Today i’ve eaten 1253 calories, which i realise is a little over but i’ve been walking around school today and i’ve just been on the exercise bike and burnt 400 calories.i’ve just weighed myself on my wii fit, and i’ve not actually lost anything, i’ve gained a few ounces (i think if thats the measurement below pounds) but considering i’ve been eating healthily and not snacking and exercising why is this happening?

Your expectations are too high. This is common among dieters. Drink lots of water. Dehydration is your enemy any time. Your weight will vary by three lbs. A day. Don,t obsess about minor gains/losses. It just makes you stress. Home scales are notoriously inaccurate. Never go below 1200 cals a day. If you burn 400 ,add 400 cals to maintain this 1200 level. Anything less will slow weight loss, and derail and discourage you. We are programmed to expect instant results. The body doesn,t care about this. If you stick to this plan, it will work. To reiterate: never go below 1200 a day.

What would you call a person like myself? I put this in the singles section since it kinda applies. Thoughts?

Heres the scope ladies. I’m a man in his late 20′s. After a few studder steps in my youth, I was not able to achieve success. Also, i my mind, I just recently admitted to myself that I am not on the same page as everyone else. I grow up alot slower mentally than most. I’m not retarded or anything nor am i a bad guy. I seem to get the “WWeird treatment from everyone especially women. I am aawkwardaround them. I can talk to them like I talk to anyone else. Friends(which I really have non of) would be a more realistic outcome with them. And yes, I am perfectly straight. I just aain’tnever been in a relationship. Scholastically, I am 15 credits away from my associates in Criminal Justice while many others, some in my work, who go to class with me imply that I simply am wasting my time since THEY say I wont pass the psychological evaluation. My personality is a little eccentric and neurotic. I’m out spoken sometimes and makes people laugh, which is a good thing. People say hi to me and ask me whats up. So I blend in to an extent. But I spend all my time alone. I have 2 dogs.

I live at home with intentions to move out so don’t worry lol. I work 2 jobs. Just got hired at my other. He res some of the things I enjoy. Video games. I love playing my XBox 360 and Red Dead Redemption is great. Comic books. I used to have a large collection until they got thrown out. Don;t want to get into that. Music. Love for all sorts of music. Country I hate with a passion. Fitness. Staying fit and achieving athletic status was not easy. However, it sure is fun to run 6 miles and hit the weights. I love putting myself through that kind of misery because it pays off. I do that to feel good about myself. Everyone else can kiss my *** lol. Movies. Old school movies mostly since Alto of them are all remakes nowadays with dumb teens saying how scary that pg-13 horror movie was. Now at the theatre I go to 2 towns over, they play an old movie every Friday. I go to those and I go all by myself. Some people are anal when it comes to going to the movies alone. It’s like their not allowed to or their embarrassed to do so. I say WTF??!!! Do it anyway. This summer, I’m going skydiving.

Let me ask you a question in this question. How am I anti-social being by myself when I’m in a public place amongst humans? Yes I have no friends but that is not entirely my fault. Now, I no longer care about having one. I’m a nice guy too.

Life is an adventure. I’m not going to wait around for a friend or Mrs. Right to come along and share these journeys with. If I am to write a story of my life, it’s gonna be Alto different than the norm of most Americans. I lost my dad when I was 10. My childhood was Neill. A shot in life is not what I lost, but something that wont be the same like everyone else. EMO, I am not. Selfconscious, I am.

These days, I am sooooooooo single that I am kinda at the point of no return. For instance, the gym I go to, there is this incredibly gorgious girl who works at the front desk. She smiles at all the members. When I approach to give my member number, I kinda gaze off at the floor, making sure to not make eye contact with this chick. This is my way of saying, “OK. Don;t worry. I wont have those thoughts of you. As to who am I to think such a thing? Ew! Right? I’ll be minding my own business.”. And thats the point where a voice(not a literal voice lol) says, “Move along”. All my life, women made fun of me. I never went on the prom or a dance because I was laughed at for even having such intentions.

So, sorry for the long question. If you can answere, feel free to. What would you call a person like myself? Would you be afraid of me?

Anyways for your question, I would call you a normal guy who can’t talk to a girl, or needs some confidence when it comes to talkin to a girl. And I would not be afraid of you. If you need some advice I would tell you to be friendly n start a conversation with girls instead of seeing them as something you’re forbidden to look at. Lol. Most girls like guys that can spark a conversation so next time you see that girl at your gym, smile and ask her something like how her day is or comment on something neutral like the weather or something to spark a conversation. Next time you see her she is gonna say hi n it will be a smooth ride from then on. Good luck.

For athletic fitness….
where women can come to as well….not just a “Golds Gym” Men only type of club, you know the kind I mean….(smiles) Where there are only men lifting huge dumbbell weights and not where women would feel comfortable….(for example: having to deal with disrespectful guys 24/7) Are there women friendly Gyms? If so, can you describe some of the equipment? Do they have elliptical machines….? are all weights “dumbbell” kind, or do they have larger machines where there are seats with arm and leg extensions and adjustable weights….I am wondering about specifically Delhi area….Thanks so much for any info

(that is why I ask Q. I have asked questions to learn from real people what is real of India….I always wish to know satya and not fake image from society. In Bangalore, I was a member of the Reebok’s Gym… It was very professional and b/c it was a costlier membership, there was a higher class of clientele. Also, many of the gyms I visited before joining Reebok’s offered “women only” timings of the day and even some have “women only” floors.

PS the Reebok’s gym was three floors: one was the spa floor (with sauna, showers, lockers, lounge) the next had weights, weights machines, etc., the third floor was the cardio floor with ellipticals, treadmills and bicycles with it’s own television (with cable)… There was also a juice bar on this floor.

Hey :) . I was a finalist in Miss Teen Great Britain. Just be natural if you dont feel confident enough then your not ready, as i takes a lot of confidence to walk down a stage in front of thousands of people. Walk down the stage in the evening gown quite elegant and gracefully, and for the swimsuit round walk down the stage quite sexily and confident. For the personality interview, be yourself. Don’t take long pauses you have to be prepared! Hope this helped :D

Is it true Barack Hussein Obama belittled his 20-years imam Rev. Wright’s racist hate speeches without fully recognizing the danger those poisonous lies could pose against USA race harmony and democracy? Is this enough reason to question Obama’s integrity, character and true ideologies?

Can we compare Rev. Wright’s racist hate speeches, Farrakhan’s words and other black supremacist racists’ hate speeches to the Arab Muslim hate speeches against Jewish people in Middle East? Hamas, Jews and Hate Speech
To the Editor:

Having spent my childhood in Gaza and Cairo hearing Jews cursed and called “apes,” “pigs” and “enemies of God” from the pulpits of mosques, I commend “In Gaza, Hamas’s Fiery Insults to Jews Complicate Peace Effort” (front page, April 1).

Worldwide Islamic terrorism is the natural product of the constant hate speech and propaganda children hear in Arab schools, mosques, media, Islamic universities — and now children’s television.

Hamas seeks to produce a generation ready for jihad. Even Arabs from middle-class families cannot shed the legacy of hatred we were subjected to as children in the Middle East.

Arab religious and political leaders do not realize that this indoctrination of hatred and violence against Jews and Israel in children has infected Arab society. It started against Jews. But it leads to bombings of Muslims by Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan, and to indiscriminate bombings in New York, Madrid and London. The world must demand an end to it.
